Wrist Watches

With the invention of the highly accurate inexpensive quartz watches most modern watches have these quartz movements instead of mechanical ones. That is why mechanical watches are collectible.

Men's wristwatches from the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's are the most desirable right now. The platinum and solid gold watches are the most sought after, but nice gold filled are silver watches can be very valuable to us.

Most watches that are not running or have missing stems (winders) can easily be repaired by our watchmakers. Don't make the mistake thinking a watch is worthless because it is not ticking.

The most desirable wrist watches are made by Patek Philippe, Vacheron & Constantine, Concord, Audemar Piguet, International, Rolex, Tiffany & Co., LeCoultre and others. Look for watches that have extra buttons, extra hands and unique designs.

Pocket Watches

Hunting case watches have a cover that must be opened to see the time, whereas open face pocket watches do not. Look inside the back cover if it says "guaranteed 20 years" the case is not gold, it still may be valuable. Railroad watches were used by railroad employees. They tend to be bigger, thicker and very accurate. The movements are adjusted for different positions and sometimes temperature. Dress watches were thin, elegant watches generally carried in a vest. Many of these have matching watch chains, fobs and knives.
